First camp in Iran
Date/Time: Tue 05 Jun 2007 05:19:44 AM CEST
Camping in Iran is very safe and if you ask the farmers it is never a problem. You don't have to spend a penny that way and look at the view you get, all for free :-)

Iran produces a lot of rice altough mostly around the Kaspian sea. They first soak it in water with a big lumb of salt and then cook it. This way you get very soft but not sticky rice. Yummy.

Stormy weather
Date/Time: Tue 05 Jun 2007 01:40:30 PM CEST
To all those people out there who think that Iran is flat, sunny and hot: you are all wrong! High mountains covered in snow is what you'll find in many places in Iran as well as wet Scotland like sceneries like these.

Farming is mostly done by hand or if you are rich by a hightech mule or horse. We camped at the land of these farmers and they were so friendly to wait with irrigating untill we had left.

Tabriz has the longest bazar in the world and you really can go shopping crazy there. We as foreigners are very rich and changing $100 into Rials left us with bags full of money. Finally we are milionair, hurray! 10.000 Rials equals $1 or 1000 Tuman as they are normally called here.
Carpets (the none flying ones)
Date/Time: Thu 07 Jun 2007 02:40:03 PM CEST
In the bazar we were approached by some carpet sellers who explained us everything about carpets (knotted) and killims (woven) and the different materials, dyes and motives that are used by the different tribes in Iran to create them. A very interesting talk indeed. Thank you! Buying one would have been great but where do you put it on your bicycle?
So if you evere are in Tabriz have a look out for these guys as they are really friendly and sell great stuff.
